Obituary of Nannie Mae Kirkland

Mrs. Nannie Mae Kirkland age 97 a resident of Auburndale passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at her residence due to Natural Causes. Mrs. Kirkland was born April 2, 1916 in Meigs, Georgia to James William and Annie Susan (Melvin) Helms. She has been an Auburndale resident since 1932 coming from Meigs and a homemaker. Nannie Mae was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church for 82 years. First Missionary Baptist Church was originally located adjacent to Stambaugh Middle School in a small one room church. The original church was First Baptist Church, but the name was later changed to First Missionary Baptist Church of Auburndale. Nannie Mae was a Sunday school teacher for many years and was the wife of a deacon for 49 years. Nannie Mae enjoyed her family & friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, F.M. Kirkland; brothers Henry Helms & George Helms; sister Mary Lou Parramore and granddaughter Karen Kirkland. Nannie Mae is survived by her loving family; 2 Sons: Horace (Carolyn) Kirkland of Auburndale James (Peggy) Kirkland of Auburndale Daughter: Ellen (Glen) Osborn of Auburndale 11 Grandchildren: Doug Kirkland, Beth Thomas, Melanie Engel, Matt Kirkland, Randy Kirkland, Lisa Rutherford, Wade Kirkland, Betsy Cleveland, Kristi Osborn, David Osborn & Jennifer Jusko 13 Great Grandchildren Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, May 13, 2013 at the First Missionary Baptist Church, 406 Main St., Auburndale. Interment will follow at the Auburndale Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 12, 2013 from 6:00 til 8:00 PM at the Kersey Funeral Home, 108 E. Lake Stella Dr. Auburndale.
