Obituary of Charles Walton Rohlfing

AUBURNDALE Charles Walton Rohlfing, 91 passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013 at his Auburndale home. Charles was born October 2, 1921 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Frank and Flora (Walton) Rohlfing. He was in the orchard business in Pennsylvania until moving to Auburndale in 1956. He spent the next 57 years as a citrus grower with his family. Charles was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Winter Haven, a past president and board member of the Auburndale Rotary Club, member of Florida Citrus Mutual, Farm Bureau of Polk County and Haines City Citrus Growers, the Tax Payers League of Polk County and a 32nd Degree Mason of Lodge #186. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Frank Michael Rohlfing. Charles is survived by this loving family; wife of 68 years, Myrle Emma Rohlfing of Auburndale, 3 sons; Fred Rohlfing of Pompano Beach, Frank (Linda) Rohlfing of Lakeland, Charles (Diane) Rohlfing of Auburndale; Daughter, Dr. Stormy (Charles) Smoleny of Miami ; 5 Grandchildren; Jennifer Rohlfing & Sherry Windsor of Lakeland, Brett Rohlfing of Auburndale, Shane (Claudia) Smoleny of Miami, Elkie (Bryan) Wiencskowski of Wellington.; 3 Great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family request donations in Mr. Charles Rohlfing's name to: Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, FL 33823 A private family graveside service will be held.
