Obituary of Edwin Lavaughn Glasscock

AUBURNDALE - Edwin Lavaughn Glasscock, 89, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 17, 2014 due to natural causes. Ed Glasscock was born in Florence Alabama on August 14, 1924. His family moved to Auburndale in 1925. He served in the Army (Indian Head) 2nd Infantry division during WWII and received a Purple Heart. In 1964, he moved to Stuart, Florida and later became the City Manager of Stuart, Florida. He retired in 1984. He was a member of the North Stuart Baptist Church and the Sons of the American Revolution. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Idella Glasscock, his wife of 64 years, Edith, his son-in-law, Rick Bair, his sisters, Alice Faye Scott and Letah Rae Glasscock, his brothers, Vernon Glasscock, Dwaine Glasscock, and Gerald (Pete) Glasscock. He is survived by three daughters; Sherra Bair, Ann Richardson (Pete) all of Stuart, Florida and Susan Copeland (Paul) of Montgomery, Alabama; 5 grandchildren: Chris Bair (Meg) , Suzanne Stanford (Stan), Darden Copeland (Sarah), Matthew Copeland, Patrick Copeland: 4 great-grandchildren: 2 sisters, Nita Green of Auburndale and Peggy Gustavson of Melbourne, FL. A private graveside service will be held. Arrangements by Kersey Funeral Home.
