Obituary of Rolland LeeRoy Barnes
Mr. Rolland L. Barnes age 73 a longtime Polk County resident passed away Monday, August 25, 2014 at Winter Haven Hospital due to renal failure. Mr. Barnes was born July 5, 1941 in Vincennes, Indiana. He retired from Walmart where he worked for many years in the garden center & office. Rolland was a United States Air Force Veteran from 1961-1965. He was a member of the American Legion Post 8 in Winter Haven where he had served as 1st Vice Commander, Historian, Finance Officer & Chaplain. He was the American Legion Department of Florida 7th District Commander from 2007-2008, member of the Men's Auxiliary VFW Post 4289 in Winter Haven, member of the Eagles Lodge in Colorado and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Auburndale. He was preceded in death by his mother - Ida; stepfather - Alvin and sister - Darlene.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Legion Post 8 Winter Haven.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Kersey Funeral Home with Military Honors. Visitation will be held before from 11:00 until 12:00 at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
