Obituary of Barbara Elayne Kirkland

Mrs. Barbara Elayne Kirkland, age 70, a resident of Winter Haven, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015, at Tampa General Hospital with family by her side. Mrs. Kirkland was born August 31, 1944, in Norfolk, VA, to John Russell and Barbara Alima (Ewing) Boyd. She was a Polk County resident since 1961 coming from PA. She graduated from Winter Haven High School Class of 1963 and she was of the Baptist faith. Barbara was the owner/operator of her in home day care for 20 years and a retired CNA where she worked at the Polk and Highlands County Health Departments for 25 years. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking and loved her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edward D. Kirkland and brother John Dorsey Boyd. Barbara is survived by her loving and devoted family: son: Mark Edward Kirkland of Winter Haven, 2 daughters: Barbara Joanne Davis of Winter Haven, Elizabeth Lynne (Joel) Duncan of Winter Haven, 2 sisters: Elizabeth Travers of Palm Beach Gardens, Dora Lynne (Douglas) Giglio of Riverview, 3 grandchildren: Nathan, Paul & John, 1 great granddaughter: Ava.
