Obituary of Ronald Smith

Ronald Lee Smith passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, 2/13/2016. Born 2/20/1936 in St. Johns, MI to Rose and Lester Smith. Ron moved to Midland, MI in 1942, where he attended school and graduated from Midland High School, lettering in football, baseball and basketball. He graduated from Albion College in 1958, where he served as President of ATO fraternity. While at Albion he met his beloved wife Dorothy and they were married for 57 years. Ron began his career at Dow Chemical Company where after 30 years he retired to enjoy his loving family, traveling, playing golf and flying. He loved beautiful sunsets, Florida beaches and any good card game or movie. He was an avid University of Michigan and Detroit Tiger Fan and an active member of Memorial Presbyterian Church in Midland, MI. Three years ago they moved to Auburndale, FL to be near family. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Dorothy and their 5 children Scott Smith of Williamsburg, VA, Linda Smith of Auburndale, FL, Susan Burris Warner of Auburndale, FL, Patty Mark Siebert of Charlotte, NC and Ted Stacy Smith of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren Jacob, Joshua, Burris III, Zachary, Hunter, Jack, Ellie and Avery. He will forever be remembered for his big smile, warm heart, infectious laugh and zest for life. He touched the lives of so many people and will be missed dearly. The memorial service will be held on Saturday 3/5/2016 at 11 am at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1310 Ashman Street, Midland, MI. Immediately following the service there will be a celebration of Ron's life at the Midland Country Club. Please direct memorial gifts in Memory of Ron Smith to the Memorial Presbyterian Church
