Obituary of Nancy Clifton-Herder
Mrs. Nancy Huston Cox Clifton-Herder, age 82 a resident of Auburndale passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016 at home with her husband and daughter by her side. Mrs. Clifton-Herder was born September 11, 1933 in Washington DC the only child to James Huston Simpson and Anna Southard (Larner) Cox. She was a Polk City/Auburndale resident since 1971 coming from Okinawa, Japan. She was an entertainer & educator for many years and of the Christian faith. Nancy played piano for the officer's club on Okinawa, several restaurants, social/civic clubs, and for several area retirement homes. Nancy graduated from Newton High School, Newton, N.J in 1950, going on to attend Women's College/Rutgers in 1954 and then graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Florida Southern College. She volunteered for the Polk County School Board at many schools and was volunteer of the year twice at Haines City High School. Nancy was a published writer "The Tapestry of Life" 1995 and soon to be published "Polly Possum" a children's book. Nancy was a very unique and special person who loved life. She was preceded in death by her parents; son - Glen and daughter - Paige.
Nancy is survived by her loving & devoted family; Husband of 20 Years: Wayne Herder of Auburndale Daughter: Perrin Clifton and husband Michael Wilson of Polk City 2 Stepdaughters:Shannon Marie Herder of Kansas City. MO., Rachel Robyn Herder of Kansas City, MO. Step-Granddaughter: Rayleigh Anne Herder
