The coolest old man I've ever known, his son Charles Wesley Ackley and I were really good friends and David would pick up and we would travel down to Auburndale FL every weekend when we were in middle school and highschool with David. Those were some of the best moments of my entire life, David was absolutely hilarious and a real funny old man. I will never forget him, I still remember every moment of our trip to his other home in Georgia with his son Charles. I will never forget his love of ham radios, W4UWH was his radio tag I will never forget all the funny things he would chat about. Its sad to hear he has passed away, he will never be forgotten.

Just coming across this as Mr. Ackley was one of my fathers’s best friends. (Bill Allen, 1931-2008). One of my favorite memories of my father was listening to he and Mr. Ackley banter back and forth on the radio. My fathers call sign was W4DTZ and Mr. Ackley always called him “W4DootilyTootilyZootily”!!! What characters they were! I know they are enjoying each other’s friendship again!! Sincere sympathy for your loss.

Dave was well known as UNCLE WILLIE HENRY aka W4UWH a well respected HAM RADIO operator known for his call sign , W4UWH. I have know Dave for over twenty years and enjoyed many talks and visits with him through the years. I could ask him anything about ham radios and he had the answer. I hated his struggles with his illness, but I am glad he is no longer suffering. He will be missed by a lot of people. As we say in the Ham radio community when we lose a valuable member, W4UWH has gone Silent Key. Until we meet again my friend 73s
