Obituary of L. D. Powell

Mr. L.D. Powell, 80, of Auburndale died July 14, 2016 at his home. He was born in Bonifay, Florida on April 8, 1936 to William Richard Powell and Bessie (Nee Harrison). He moved to Polk County in 1953 and was employed by Minute Maid/Coca Cola for 47 years before retiring in 1998. LD was a family man with a large and loving extended family. He was respected by all who knew him and he knew no strangers. Mr. Powell enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Lewis, LV, and Lowring, sisters Flora Belle, Nettie Pearl, Syble and Nadine. Surviving are his loving wife of 40 years, Wanda James Powell, children, Angela (Lou) ReneVillia of Auburndale, Tim Powell (Jeff Lewis) of Winter Haven, Rhonda Powell of Lakeland, Vanessa Powell of Auburndale, Wesley Powell of Auburndale, stepchildren, Elizabeth Walker of Independence, Va, Bobby (Serena) Walker of Winter Haven, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, brother in law, Thomas James of Spring Hill, Fl. sisters in law, Bettie Coleman of Lakeland, Phyllis James of South Bend, Indiana and Elaine Powell of Eloise.
