Vera V. Lewis , 97 , of Auburndale , Florida passed away November 15, 2016 at her residence. She was born on September 1, 1919 in Washington D.C. , _ to Edward and Margaret Thomas . Mrs. Lewis had lived in the Polk County area for the past 5 years moving from Washington D. C.. She retired as a U. S. Senate Administrative Staff Member. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Winter Haven the Order of the Eastern Star Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Lewis and is survived by 2 sons, Thomas Lewis of Auburndale and William E. Lewis of Lakeland, her daughter, Margaret Benton of St. Petersburg, 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Services will take place at Lee Funeral Home in Clinton, Maryland.
