Obituary of William Strickland

-- View a Video -- Mr. William ?Buster? Strickland, age 75 of Auburndale, Florida passed away Thursday, July 16, 2009 at his residence as a result of heart failure. Mr. Strickland was born in Tatnall County, Georgia to William Jefferson & Alice Ophelia Dubblery Strickland on November 24, 1933. Mr. Strickland and his wife, Minnie Loyce (Mock) moved to the Auburndale area in 1953. He attended the Heaven Bound Freewill Baptist Church where he was a deacon, Lakeland; worked as a carpenter and was an avid fisherman. He is survived by his wife, 2 sons: Ed (Sandy) Strickland of Auburndale and Bill (Cindy) Strickland of Blackshear, GA; 2 daughters: Glenda (Mark) Ford and Denise (Scott) Mong all of Winter Haven; a brother, Gene (Dot) Strickland of SC; a sister, Ardis (Kelly) Severn of Blackshear, GA; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; half-brother ? James Strickland; 2 half sisters: Debbie Kaiser and Renee Strickland all of Sanford, FL He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters: Lillie Mae Cade and Arlene Evans; a brother C.L. Strickland and a grandson, Mark Allen Phillips II. Funeral visitation will be held Monday, July 20, 2009 from 9:00AM to 11:00AM for friends at Kersey Funeral Home, 108 East Lake Stella Drive, Auburndale, FL.
