Obituary of Larry Workman

Larry Donald Workman, 88 and long time resident of Auburndale, passed away Monday, November 15, 2010 at the Lifecare Center of Winter Haven, due to heart failure. His family was by his side. Mr. Workman was born November 10, 1922 in Louisa, Kentucky to Jacob and Emily (Bartrum) Workman. He moved to Auburndale in 1954 coming from Kentucky, retired from the State of Florida Department of Education, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Auburndale. Larry was a United States Army Air Corp Veteran serving in World War II with the Eigth Air Force Division. Larry was a Biology teacher and coach at Winter Haven High School from 1954 - 1957 and was a teacher and coach at Auburndale High School from 1957 -1968. He was preceded in death by his parents; 7 brothers and 1 sister, and survived by his loving and devoted family; wife, Ella V. Workman, Sons, Larry (Bonnie) and Donnie Workman, daughter, Rebecca Christensen, stepson, Paul Berry (Tamara) Little, brother, Rush Workman, 8 grandchildren; Amy, Brooke, McKinnley, Khelsea, Caelynn, Paul, John & Rubye, 3 great-grandchildren; Ella V, Erika & Wessley. Services for Larry will be held at Kersey Funeral Home, with visitation being Friday, November 19, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, and Funeral Service Saturday, November 20, at 11:00 AM. In Lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in Mr. Workman's name to the First United Methodist Church of Auburndale.
