Obituary of Coy Cook

Mr. Coy Lee Cook, Jr., age 87 a longtime Auburndale resident passed away Friday, February 18, 2011 at his residence with family by his side due to cancer. Mr. Cook was born July 5, 1923 in Houston County, Pansy, Alabama to Coy Lee and Thelma Elizabeth (Glass) Cook, Sr. He was a retired salesman after 17 years from Scotty's Home Improvement Store. He was a resident of Auburndale since 1946 coming from Pansy, Alabama. He was an Army veteran serving during World War II (he guarded General TOJOE from Japan and Tokyo Rose). He was also awarded 3 battle stars for serving in the Philippines. He also served in the Army division of the Amercal North & South Dakota. He was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Auburndale. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Mr. Cook's name to either: Good Shepherda Hospice or First Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the First Missionary Baptist Church, 406 Main St., Auburndale with interment to follow at the Auburndale Memorial Park with full Military Honors. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 22, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Kersey Funeral Home Chapel.
