Obituary of Dorothy Mecha

AUBURNDALE - Mrs. Dorothy Mecha, age 88, of Auburndale, went home to be with the Lord Sunday (April 17, 2011) at Good Shepherd Hospice due to heart failure. She was born Sept. 22, 1922 in Clontarf, MN, to Ernest and Lydia (LaBlanc) Goulet. On May 1, 1948, Dorothy married Leonard Mecha. They lived in Milwaukee, WI. She was a loving wife and mother, who also like to sew, knit, crochet, and do crafts. Dorothy and Leonard moved to Auburndale in 1979, enjoying retirement together until Leonard's passing in 1994. She was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Winter Haven, where she shared her talents in the Stitchery Group, was a Minister to the Sick and formed special bonds with Christ Renews His Parish Team 8. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leonard Mecha; 2 sisters: Beatrice Goulet and Adrance Knackert; and 1 brother Rene' Goulet. Dorothy is survived by her loving family: 2 daughters Marilyn (Donald) Sleaper of Auburndale, FL, and Barbara (Patrick) Wilson of LaCrosse, WI, and 1 son Lawrence (Kristen) Mecha of Racine, WI; 6 grandchildren: Pamela (Michael Buckley, Timothy Sleaper, Beth (Navid) Ehsan, Joseph Mecha, William Mecha, and Daniel Mecha; 3 great grandchildren: Joseph Sleaper, Hannah Buckley, and Mona Grace Ehsan. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2011 in the chapel of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 532 Avenue M. Northwest, Winter Haven.
