Obituary of Leon Campbell

AUBURNDALE - Mr. Leon Campbell, age 91, a resident of Auburndale, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center due to natural causes. Mr. Campbell was born December 7, 1919 in Harrisburg, PA, to Henry W. and Clara Regina (Duffner) Campbell. He was a retired airport telecommunications person and a United States Army veteran, serving in World War II. He was a resident of Auburndale for 30 years coming from Miami, a member of the V.F.W. Post 4289 in Winter Haven, and a lifetime member of the Greater Miami Ski Club. He enjoyed flying & loved to fish. Leon was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife Irma Joyce in 2001. Survivors include his devoted daughter Valorie Campbell; and partner Beth Salvant of St. Petersburg, FL; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mr. Campbell's name to: Hope Hospice, 9470 Health Park Circle, Ft. Myers, FL., 33908. Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the Kersey Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Auburndale Memorial Park with full military honors. Visitation will be held before services from 11 a.m. till 12 noon at the funeral home.
