Obituary of George Jones

AUBURNDALE - Mr. George Berry Jones, age 84 a resident of Auburndale passed away Sunday, October 9, 2011 at his residence due to cancer. Mr. Jones was born September 10, 1927 in Brantley, Alabama to James Howard and Alma Zell (Wright) Jones. He was an Auburndale resident since 1965 coming from Tampa, FL and Georgia. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict and retired from TECO as an Able Bodied Seaman (Tugs & Super Tankers). He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, sisters and great granddaughter - Riley. George is survived by his loving family; his wife of 58 years, Clara Jones of Auburndale; 4 sons, David (Laura) Jones of Lakeland, Bobby (Peggy) Jones of Auburndale, Michael Jones of Lake Wales, & Jeff (Cherie) Jones of Polk City; 4 daughters, Joyce (Rick) Williamson of Lakeland, Janet (Pat) Peterman of Lakeland, Sandy (Tim) Harper of Auburndale, & Naomi (Steven) Carter of Bonifay; 16 grandchildren, Jessica, Megan, Bo, Devin, Christopher, Scott, Shane, Richard, Jill, Aaron, Adam, Brayton, Brandon, William, Stephanie, & Tiffany; and 9 great grandchildren, Porter, Lydia, Clara, Sean, Kendal, Kenady, Maryssa, Kendall, & Sydney. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at the Auburndale Memorial Park, 1889 W. Derby Ave., Auburndale. Visitation will be held Monday, October 10, 2011 from 6:00 til 8:00 PM at the Kersey Funeral Home.
