Obituary of Allen Selhime

LAKE ALFRED - Mr. Allen G. Selhime, age 88 of Lake Alfred passed away Friday, December 21, 2012 due to respiratory failure. He was a native of Illinois and veteran of WW II. After the war he attended Colorado A & M at Fort Collins with a degree in Entomology. He was an entomologist with the U. S. Department of Agriculture, an honorary member and past president of the Florida Entomological Society. He was the recipient of the USDA Unit Distinguished Service Award for outstanding service in the feasibility of biological control of citrus black fly. At the time of his retirement he was acting Director for the US Agricultural Research Center in Orlando. Survivors are his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Cindy (Eddie) McGuirel; granddaughter, Jessica (Andrew) Hage, and many loving members of the extended family. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 PM at the Kersey Funeral Home, Auburndale Thursday, December 27 with a graveside service being held Friday at 11 AM, December 28 at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Winter Park.
