Obituary of Virginia Ruth Spears

Mrs. Virginia Ruth Spears, age 84, a resident of Auburndale, Florida passed away Friday, December 8, 2023 at Winter Haven Hospital. Mrs. Spears was born October 19, 1939 in Douglas, Georgia to Daniel and Pealie (Stewart) Sturgis. She was a resident of Auburndale since the 1950’s coming from Georgia & North Carolina. Virginia was a graduated Auburndale High School Class of 1958, a homemaker and member of Wayfare Primitive Baptist Church in Auburndale. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; son – Ronnie Spears; brothers & sisters. Virginia is survived by her loving husband of 64 years – Waylon Spears; son – Randy (Denise) Spears; 2 sisters – Gladys (Ralph) Jones and Carolyn Johnson all of Auburndale, Florida; 6 grandchildren – Trent Spears, Trevan (Charline) Spears, Travis Spears, Trey (Krystal) Matthews, Jared (Lauren) Spears and Jennifer (Mitch) Meadows; 8 great grandchildren – Gray, Everett, Madden, Camdyn, Scarlett, Charlotte, Olivia and Alyssa. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, December 12th at Kersey Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Auburndale Memorial Park.
