Obituary of Irene Marie Voetter

89, formerly of Lakeland, FL passed away peacefully on Friday, November 24, 2023.  She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Voetter, Sr. 

Born in Brooklyn, NY.  She was a daughter of the late John and Marie (Straus) McCusker.

Mrs. Voetter worked for the Lakeland School Department in Florida for fifteen years before retiring.

She enjoyed volunteering for the Polk County Schools helping children read and for Give Kids the World for many years.

Irene’s life was based on faith, family and baseball.  She was an avid baseball fan, starting with the Brooklyn Dodgers, the NY Mets and the Tampa Bay Rays.

She leaves two children, Gary Voetter of Lakeland, FL and Denise Paquet and her husband Richard of Cranston; a daughter-in-law, Maureen Voetter of Long Island, NY; two sisters, Marilyn Kreppein of IL and Lorraine Migliore of CA; eight grandchildren, Kathleen, Mary, Patricia, Joseph, Tabitha, Kayla, Jennifer and Nicole; eleven great-grandchildren, Julianna, Magnolia, Isaac, Shea, Sawyer, Bailey, Elena, Skye, Madesyn, Cameron and Caleb. She was the mother of the late Susan Voetter and Joseph J. Voetter, Jr.; and mother-in-law of the late Natalie Voetter.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023 at 8:45am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Immaculate Conception Church, 237 Garden Hills Drive, Cranston.  Burial will be in Lakeland, FL.  VISITING HOURS Sunday from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
