Obituary of Steven Gains Prather

Mr. Steven Gains Prather, age 35, a resident of Auburndale, Florida passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023. Mr. Prather was born December 23, 1987 in Bartow, Florida to Michael Wade and Joyce Ann (Stalnaker) Prather. He was a lifetime Polk County resident, attended Auburndale schools and was member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Polk City. Steven was an A/C Installer & Repairman. He enjoyed gardening, everything about space exploration and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father; maternal grandfather – Gene Stalnaker; paternal grandmother – Peggy Prather and aunt – Debbie Prather Kowaleski. Steven is survived by his loving family, son – Landen Prather (13); mother – Joyce Murphy; maternal grandmother – Carol Stalnaker; 2 brothers – Phillip (Jennifer) Prather and Shaun (Jennifer) Prather; sister – Melissa (Michael) McClain; paternal grandfather – Wade Prather; 3 uncles – Ken (Debbie) Stalnaker,  Gary (Lynn) Stalnaker and Steve Kowaleski and nephew Myles. A graveside service will be held 10:00 am Thursday, November 30^th at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 5415 Mt. Olive Road, Polk City.
