Obituary of Martha Kathyrn Robertson

Martha Kathryn Robertson was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She left this world to go to her heavenly home on September 24, 2023, at the age of 85.

Martha was born to Twyman and Iva Edwards on October 14, 1937, in Kirksey, Kentucky. Near the end of her senior year in high school, she met the love of her life, Herman, at her cousin’s house while he was practicing with his quartet. It was love at first sight and they were married by the end of the year. Together they had three children: Dale, LaDonne and Rochelle. In 1968, at the recommendation of her doctor, they put their complete trust in God, packed up their family and belongings and moved to Auburndale, Florida where they settled into their new home.

Martha loved spending time with her family and friends. She always looked forward to the annual visits to her birthplace in Kentucky with her family and also enjoyed all of the trips that she and Herman took with their friends. She was a skilled piano and organ player and filled her home with gospel music. She was a faithful member of First Missionary Baptist Church and then Polk City First Baptist Church for the past 55 years. She loved to watch her home team, the Kentucky Wildcats, play basketball on TV. Some of Martha’s favorite pastimes included communing with God and nature by watching sunsets on the beach and walking in the gardens and enjoying the flowers at Bok Tower and Cypress Gardens.

Martha is survived by her husband, Herman, of 66 years. She is also survived by her son, Dale Robertson from Winter Haven, daughters LaDonne Byers (Lary) from Polk City and Rochelle Anderson (Sean) from Merritt Island, grandchildren Marc, Christy, Craig, Kaleigh, Keianna and Sean, great grandchildren Nolan, Brody, Draven, Leila and Katherine, and step-grandchildren Evan and Shane. She was preceded in death by her brother Jimmy, great grandson Elijah and grandson Bailey.

Visitation will be at Polk City First Baptist Church, 212 Hamolia Ave, Polk City, Florida, on Saturday, September 30th from 10:00am to 11:00am. The memorial service will be held immediately following at 11:00am. Interment will take place at Auburndale Memorial Park following the memorial service.
