Obituary for Sara Catherine Howerton

Sara Catherine Howerton, 87, of Auburndale, Florida passed away August 18, 2023, at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center, Lakeland, Florida. She was born on December 9, 1935, in Ft Myers, Florida to Frank B Mallory and Sara Summerour Mallory.

Sara loved volunteering, reading, sewing, and Friday lunches with her friends. She will most be remembered by her family for having strong Christian faith and for her devotion to her family. Sara also thoroughly loved having her children and grandchildren in her home. Her welcoming smile and her infectious laugh will go on in our hearts and memories. Most importantly, Sara was a devoted mother, and in supporting her youngest daughter, Cathy, she became an active advocate for individuals living with disabilities. She guided many parents through this journey. She will be loved and missed, but never forgotten.

Sara is survived by her son Carl Howerton (Amanda), Auburndale, FL, and three daughters: Lori Hawkeswood (Geof) Duluth, GA; Joy Siebenman (Rich) Katy, TX; and Cathy Howerton, Auburndale, FL. She is also survived by her four grandchildren: Chandler, Ashley, Sara, and Ibby.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse Howerton, parents, Frank and Sara Mallory, brothers Frank and John "Bud" Mallory, and sisters Lenoir Keene and Mary Ann Mallory Ward.

The family will receive friends at Kersey Funeral Home on Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 9:00AM - 10:00AM. Funeral services will be at 10:00AM on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Kersey Funeral Home with Ben Abbott officiating. Interment will be at Auburndale Memorial Park Cemetery.
