Obituary of George David DeAtley

Mr. George David “Dave” DeAtley, age 90 a resident of Brandon, Florida passed away Monday, July 17, 2023 at Loved By The Day Assisted Living Center in Brandon surrounded by his family. Mr. DeAtley was born September 8, 1932 in Winchester, Kentucky to Arthur Lee and Edrie Fay (Hogge) DeAtley. He was a resident of Brandon, Florida since 2004 coming from Winter Haven, Florida and retired after 20+ years as the Owner/Operator of Dave’s Tractor Service in Winter Haven. He also worked for the City of Lakeland & CSX Railroad doing tractor & bushog work for many years. Dave’s other job was a Saddlebread Horse Trainer which had learned from his dad when he was young, training in Tennessee, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Mississippi. He was a past member of the First Baptist Church in Auburndale and now attends Church of God of Prophecy of Valrico, Florida. He enjoyed traveling, cruises and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1^st wife – Joan C. DeAtley in 2000; son – Carl DeAtley and 2 sisters – Betty Lou Dillon & Peggy Lee Gunder. Dave  is survived by his loving family, wife of  16 years Frances DeAtley of Brandon, Florida; 2 daughters – Diane DeAtley of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky and Deborah “Debbie” (Don) Strickland of Hickory, North Carolina; sister – Fay Waller of Jacksonville, Florida; 7 grandchildren – Trisha, Melissa, Michelle, Mark, TJ, Kyrstie & Christyna and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday, July 24^th at Kersey Funeral Home with visitation before from 12-1 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Burial Park in Lakeland.
