Obituary for Gail "Malcolm" Durham

Gail "Malcolm" Durham, 79, of Winter Haven, Florida passed away July 13, 2023, at Residence Winter Haven, Florida. He was born on August 5, 1943, in Auburndale, Florida to John Webb Durham and Stella Grubbs Durham.

Mr. Durham loved roller skating, Nascar, all sorts of car racing shows, fishing, old TV shows; especially westerns, and wrestling like the WWE. Malcolm had a great love for Hellmann's mayonnaise, and he was also a great cook. He was a hard worker, and he loved his family dearly. Family was one of Malcolm's greatest achievements. Malcolm was a welder, and he was very good at what he did. Malcolm also served in the Vietnam War in the Army.

A couple of our funniest memories of Malcolm, was when he put thumb tacks in his sister Sara's chair just as she sat down. Another was also with his sister Sara, and that was him telling her to put "cherries" which turned out to be hot peppers, in her pockets. As minutes went by, the so-called cherries (hot peppers) began to drain juice down poor Sara's legs. Sara ended up with a rash on both her legs. But the laughter healed any rash that came out of this. We will miss the warmth and love from our dear Malcolm, but our memories will forever be cherished.

Malcolm is survived by his daughter Donna Durham, Lakeland, Fl., sisters Sara Mae Durham, Auburndale, Fl., and Linda Brantley (Roy), Frostproof, Fl., also a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Tagatha Durham, son Glenn Durham, brothers Alex Durham, Auburndale, Fl., Harold Durham, Winter Haven, Fl., and Edward Durham, Leesburg, Fl., sisters Mary Ann Surreacy, Tampa, Fl., and Bonnie Hart, Winter Haven, Fl., grandsons Randall Smith, Auburndale, Fl., and Chad Morton, Auburndale, Fl.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 21st, 2023, from 1PM - 2PM for Visitation in the Kersey Chapel. Memorial services will be held at 2PM on Friday July 21st, at Kersey Funeral Home with Bud Porter officiating.
