Obituary of Billy "BJ" Joe Ingram

Mr. Billy Joe “BJ” Ingram, age 87, a resident of Lake Alfred passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Good Shepherd Hospice Auburndale with family at his side. Mr. Ingram was born November 10, 1935 in Pansey, Alabama to Charles Ross and Eula Mae (Burkett) Ingram. He was a resident of Polk County for over 70 years coming from Alabama. He worked the night shift at Continental Can Company as a Supervisor/Foreman for over 20 years until opening his own business where he was the Owner/Operator of Ingram Construction & Excavation Company for over 30 years working alongside his sons Kelly & Kevin. He also opened a high performance machine shop in Auburndale building racing engines. He had his Pilot’s license, 3 planes which he enjoyed flying often. BJ raced stock cars, he held the Florida record for the fastest time on a circle track, drag raced and rode motorcycles (Sturgis & Maine). He traveled 3 times on a big game hunt to Africa which was the excitement of a lifetime. His other hobbies were fishing in Alaska, restoring cars, fish fry’s and spending time with his family. He was of the Baptist faith, a past Mason and an Auburndale High School Booster Club Sponsor. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters – Katherine & Dorothy and brother – Abnal. BJ is survived by his loving family, 2 sons – Kelly Joe (Tracey) Ingram and Kevin John Ingram both of Auburndale; 2 daughters – Karen Lynn (Jimmy) Brown of Auburndale and Cindy (Dicky) Love of Plant City; 7 grandchildren – Jaron, Chase, Morgan, Corey, Jerrod, Tyler & Tessa; 12 great grandchildren – Chandler, Baley, Axel, Asher, Leilani, Halston, Parker, Addison, Charlotte, Rhett, Wrenley & Tripp. A memorial service will be 11:00 am Saturday, July 22^nd at Kersey Funeral Home.
