Obituary of Tom Porter

Mr. Tom Porter, 73, a resident of Auburndale went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. Tom was born June 23, 1950 in Winter Haven, Florida to Doug and Ethel Porter. He graduated from Auburndale High School Class of 1968 and retired after 25 years of service from Publix. He was a member of Auburndale Community Church. Tom was an Auburndale Little League Baseball and Football Coach and served over 50 years with his involvement with Bloodhound football as team manager and Football Booster Club President, acquiring the title “MR. BLOODHOUND”. He was also the president of the Auburndale CB’Rs Club for “Dog City”. Tom frequently enjoyed dining at Auburndale’s Main Street Diner and Beef O Brady’s where he would have endless conversations. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother – Jimmy “Dizzy” Vance and sister – Martha Kay Lunsford. Tom is survived by his loving family, brother – Bud Porter (wife Maggie); 2 nieces – Tonda Kay Skinner and Amy Randell, nephew – Greg Vance; great niece – Chloe; great nephew – Hunter; brother in law – Bud Lunsford and sister in law – Sandra Vance. A celebration of Tom’s life will be held 11:00am Saturday, July 15^th at Auburndale Community Church, 601 Stadium Rd., Auburndale with a visitation from 10-11 am at the church. Kersey Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of arrangements. In memory of Tom wear Bloodhound attire or colors.
