Obituary of Nancy Lee Whitt

    Nancy Lee Riddle Hatley Whitt age 87 of Auburndale FL passed away May 1, 2023, at Good Shepherd Hospice, Auburndale FL. She was the youngest of six children, born on December 23, 1935, in Concord NC to John Hampton Caldwell Hatley and Minnie Lee Riddle.

    She is survived by her sister Eunice H Medlin of Concord, her son, Morris McAulay, Lakeland, Marla McAulay, Auburndale, Charlotte Wright, Calgary, Alberta, Canada and Allison (Steve) Mellichamp, Auburndale.

She had 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter on the way.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, JC and Minnie R Hatley, her husband, Charles Aston Whitt Jr, her son David Martin McAulay, and granddaughter Ashley Nicole McAulay; Nancy was the youngest of six and is predeceased by her brothers Arnold, JC, Frank, and her sister Doris.

     She retired from Publix Bakery (warehouse) but spent most of her career in the admitting department at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

    She will be remembered as an excellent cook and a remarkable seamstress; her greatest accomplishment are her 5 children.

She loved to read, work jigsaw puzzles, gardening, watching hockey, football, baseball and Nascar.

    The family will receive friends on Friday, May 5 from 3 to 6 pm at 321 Bay Street in Auburndale.

She will be interned at Oak Hill Burial Park, Lakeland, next to her late husband Charles “Chuck” Whitt Jr, at a later date.
