Obituary of Robert Charles Cason
Mr. Robert “Charlie” Charles Cason, AKA Racin’Cason, age 86, a resident of Auburndale passed away Thursday, December 22, 2022 at his home. Mr. Cason was born March 21, 1936 in Lakeland, Florida to Clifford Montgomery and Pearl (Chism) Cason. He was a lifetime resident of Polk County and attended Lakeland Schools. He retired after 42 years as a Tile Engineer for Florida Tile. Robert was a member of AFA Racing of Lakeland Drag Strip and a 5 time National Drag Racing Champion. He enjoyed drag racing, playing poker, watching NASCAR and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; son – Daryl Wayne Cason; 6 brothers – Virgil, Leroy, Allen, Junior, Alfred & Elijah B. and 5 sisters – Judy, Louise, Shortie, Betty Lou & Annie Lovie. Robert is survived by his loving family, daughter – Kathy Cason; sister – Martha Holland; companion – Johnnie Mae Timmons; stepdaughter – Anna (Scott) Driskell; 10 grandchildren – Jennifer Alvariza, Kimberlyn (Weston) Johnson, Miles Rice, Trace (Brianna) Cason, Paije Allison, Gauge Gardella, Wyatt Driskell, Weston Driskell, Waylon Driskell and Dylan Driskell; 8 great grandchildren – Brooke, Andres, Bentlee, Lucas, Peyton, Tobias, Scarlett & Carter. A memorial service will be 3:00 PM Saturday, January 21ST at Kersey Funeral Home with a gathering beginning at 2:00 pm. A celebration of Charlie’s life will follow from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at Lake Mirror Auditorium , 121 South Lake Avenue, Lakeland.
