Obituary of Rebecca Illys Hodson

Mrs. Rebecca Illys Hodson, age 77 a resident of Auburndale, Florida passed away Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Winter Haven Hospital surrounded by her 2 daughters, son in law and niece. Mrs. Hodson was born March 26, 1945 in Flint, Michigan to William Harry and Mary Doris (Blair) Meadows. She was a resident of Auburndale since 2017 coming from Burton, Michigan. She graduated from Flint Northern High School and attended Flint Community College. Rebecca along with her late husband owned and operated a Self-Inking & Engraving Business called Stamps Etc. which later became Stamps-n-More that she continued to run along with her youngest daughter. She was of the Methodist Faith and was a member of the Rebecca’s in Michigan. She was a member for over 20 years of the Flint WIBC Bowling League (Women’s International Bowling Congress) and the Flint Blind Bowlers Association. She enjoyed spending time with her family & friends. Rebecca loved helping all animals by giving of her time & donations (Best Friends.org, Vested Interest in K9’s, Four Corners Equine Rescue, Mutts with a Mission and many more). She was preceded in death by her parents; husband – Richard Hodson; special friend/sister – Edith “Squirt” Byrd and husband Jack Byrd; special friend – Sandra Bader and husband Carl Bader; aunt & uncle – Bette and Rex Livingston; uncle & aunt – Bill and Ann Blair; aunt & uncle – Thelma and Fred Buchannan; uncle – Al Fagan and aunt – Nora Samuelson. Rebecca is survived by her loving & devoted daughters – Kelly Alice Michelle McGinty of Auburndale, Florida and Kimberly Doris Endahl and husband John of Auburndale, Florida; aunt – Reta Fagan of Flint, Michigan; 2 nieces – Lisa Byrd of Auburndale, Florida and Laura Pilkey and husband David of Houghton Lake, Michigan; 2 nephews – Dan Potter and wife Trish of Apollo Beach, Florida and Darrell Potter of Mt. Morris, Michigan; 4 cousins – Earleen Cornette, Debbie Livingston & Valerie Ehrman and husband Larry all of Flint, Michigan and Carrie Smith and husband Barry of Lawrenceville, Georgia; great nieces – Lillia & Violet; God granddaughter – Marlo; grand cats & grand dogs. The daughter’s Kelly & Kim would like to give a special thank you to; Dr. Alan Gasner, Dr. Haldane Porteous, Gessler Clinic Staff & the ICU nurses at Winter Haven Hospital.
