Obituary of Laura Esther Garcia
Laura Esther Garcia, age 72 of Yabucoa, passed away on August 20th, 2022 in Auburndale, Florida. Laura was born in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico to Joaquin Delgado and Felicita Rivera on June 16th, 1950. Laura moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1955 with her mother and step-father and she eventually settled in Aurora, Illinois where she grew her family by blessing this life with six wonderful children. Laura worked hard as a single parent and always did the best that she could with what she had to ensure that her family was taken care of. Laura made a career for herself working for Amoco Research Center for seventeen years as a materials specialist where she met the love of her life, Raymundo Garcia. Together they bought a home, raised a family and opened their door to everyone that they made a connection with. Laura had a gift for cooking. Everyone knew her as Cookie because she truly was an angel of the Kitchen.
She loved to entertain and relished in cooking delicious meals that would keep everyone always hungry for more. Laura was selfless in every sense of the word. She was the type of person that would give you the shoes on her feet and walk on the hot pavement beside you if it meant you could keep going on your journey. Laura lived life to the fullest. She spoke freely and found humor in everything, even on the worst days. Laura brought a light so great to this world that even in her departure from life, the light remains. The love and joy she gave can never be replaced but it will never be forgotten. Laura is preceded in death by her parents, Joaquin & Felicita, and her brothers Miguel Delgado and James Rivera.
Laura is survived by her husband, Raymundo Garcia, by her three sisters, Dominga, Virginia, and Nancy, by her children, Lucia, Hector, Ruben, Jose, Daphne, Ylenia, her grandchildren, Ruben, Trinity, Michelle, David, Alexis, Ruben, Alyssa, Angelo, Kayla, Javier, Amanda, Yashira, Glori, and Ivy, and by her great grandchildren, Marcell, Neveah, Adanya, Gordon, Jonathan, Carissa, Gianina, Jordan, Audrina, Gionni, Javier, Domenico, Chase, Ye’ Lani, and Luyana.
Please join the family in laying our beloved Cookie to rest. Visitation will be held at Kersey Funeral Home on August 25, 2022 from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. Service will be held at Kersey Funeral Home on August 25, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. and officiated by Pastor Ruben Pacheco
