Obituary of Robert Lonnie Giles

Robert Lonnie Giles, 67, of Winter Haven, passed away on the 6th of May, 2022 while at home with his wife. He was preceded in death by his mother Madeline, and his father Ralph.  He left behind his loving wife of 41 years, Beverly, his two daughters Stephanie (David) Jenkins of Auburndale and Sarah Sullivan of Lakeland.  He is survived by his sister Nancy (Richard) Lee of Vicksburg, MS, brother John Giles of Auburndale, and three grandchildren; Violet, Parker, and Julie.  He was a lifelong Polk County resident, born and raised in Lakeland. He attended Auburndale Senior High School where he was a member of the marching band, stage band and a soloist. He graduated from Auburndale High School in 1972.  He was an avid drummer of 52 years who played in several bands spanning many different genres of music, and continued playing his drums every day.  During his career he worked for Publix, and retired from Aramark after 31 years of service as a route salesman. 

He made the best of his retirement by saying "Everyday is Saturday when you're retired!" He was the best caretaker to Beverly during sickness and health.

He loved spending holidays with his family, teasing everyone, and getting discounts. He loved being a Poppa and playing with his grandchildren.

Bobby took pride in being a grill master, maintaining his beautiful lawn, and keeping his swimming pool sparkling. He was the best husband, dad and Poppa.   He will be missed immeasurably.

A memorial service will be held June 11th, at Kersey Funeral Home at 2PM.
