I came to Auburndale in December 1945 and started to attend the Methodist church where Vernon played the organ and piano. Vernon and my cousin Wenford Hardiman were friends and school mates. Vernon was always friendly and a perfect gentleman. I spoke with him about two weeks ago and I will miss being able to call him occasionally just to talk. Vernon had many friends at the Old Timers Breakfast every Friday morning and we have missed him over the past few years but we have never stopped caring for
him. I will miss talking with him, but I will continue doing so when I join him in a few years.

Our prayers and sympathies are with the family and friends. Vernon was a long-time faithful active member of First United Methodist Church of Auburndale. He was loved and will be missed, but we know that Vernon has been received into the Church Triumphant through his faith in Jesus Christ. Vernon probably heard the words, "Well-Done, Thou Good and Faithful Servant!" May God provide His comfort and peace to all who grieve!
