Obituary of Valerie Jean Maynard

Mrs. Valerie Jean Maynard, 67, of Winter Haven passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 at Lakeland Regional. Valerie was born May 21, 1950 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Francis Xavier and Rosemary (Battafarano) DeForge. She spent her formative years in North Bergen, N.J. and graduated St. Joseph of the Palisades High School in 1968. She met her husband, Terry in Kansas City and after marrying, they moved to Columbus, OH where she welcomed her three children. In 1983, they moved to Florida, fell in love with the sun, planted permanent roots in Polk County and became an avid fan of the Auburndale Bloodhounds. Valerie was employed by K-Mart and retired after 30 years of service. She loved spending time with her family, enjoyed dancing, swimming, relaxing by the pool and had a beautiful smile that could light up a room. She leaves her husband of 47 years, Terry Lee Maynard, Sr.; her sons Terry Lee (Kim) Maynard, Jr. & Michael Shawn (Jenny) Maynard; her daughter Julie Michelle (Keith) Alfleri; brother Dennis (Christopher) DeForge; eleven grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Kelci, Kaci, Taylor, Chasity, Kyle, Megan, Dominic, Rosemary, Adaline & Vincent; two great grandchildren: Kennedee & Esme. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Gerald DeForge. Flowers may be sent to the church.
