Obituary of Darrell Davis Ennis

Mr. Darrell Davis Ennis, age 84, a resident of Lakeland, Florida passed away Monday, January 22, 2024 at home with family. Mr. Ennis was born May 19, 1939 in Elba, Alabama to Albert Cecil and Gladys Nadava (Davis) Ennis. He was a Polk County resident since 1946 coming from Alabama, attended Auburndale schools and a past member of Lena Vista Baptist Church in Auburndale. Darrell was the Owner/Operator of Ennis Drum Service & Ennis Container which he started in 1970 and sold in 2009. He was a United States Navy Veteran, while in the Navy became a Barber upon returning to Auburndale starting working at Please U Barber Shop. He was a member of The Farm Bureau, Florida Thoroughbred Breeders & Owners, American Quarter Horse Association and The Florida Cattleman’s Association. Darrell enjoyed cattle ranching, horse training, working the citrus groves, hunting, horse racing, socializing and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents. Darrell is survived by his loving & devoted family, wife of 30 years – Betty Ennis of Lakeland, FL.; 2 daughters – Melony (Spencer) Walker of Punta Gorda, FL. and Monica (Richard) Allen of Lakeland, FL.; 2 stepsons – Jeffery (Debbie) Brozio of Lakeland, FL. and William (Emily) North of Ocala, FL.; 4 sisters – Ella Faye Avery of Texas, Jimmie (Richard) Eliasen of Hernando, FL., L’Wanna (Larry) Taber of Lakeland, FL. and Lori (Mike) Littlejohn of South Carolina; 10 grandchildren – Patti (Peter), Andrew, Brittany (Josh), Chance (Loren), Logan, Cheyanne, Laura (Jeremy), Hunter, Wyatt & Wylie; 11 Great Grandchildren – Eve, Nolan, Savannah, Cole, Carolyn, Ella, Adley, Callen, Eli, Houston & Hico. Funeral services will be 10am Thursday, January 25^th at Kersey Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 9am. A celebration of Darrell’s life will follow immediately after at The Brack Shack, 231 E. Lake Ave., Auburndale.
