Obituary of Ronald Kelly

Mr. Ronald Leroy Kelly, age 73 a resident of Tampico, Illinois and winter resident of Auburndale, Florida passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, Florida. Mr. Kelly was born August 4, 1944 in Princeton, Illinois to Leroy and Margaret (Warner) Kelly. He married Kathryn, his high school sweetheart, on June 13, 1965, in Yorktown, Illinois. He and his wife were snowbirds in Auburndale, Florida for 5 years and before in Ft. Myers, Florida for 5 years. Ron was a retired farmer in the agricultural industry. In his early years he worked at Northwestern Steel & Wire, Bureau County Highway and had his own dump truck business. Ron also had a business called "Fly High Divider" & "Quick Winch Products" plus being involved in Conklin Chemical Company. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown, Illinois. In Florida he attended the Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Winter Haven, Florida and Lena Vista United Methodist Church in Auburndale, Florida. Ron enjoyed traveling with his wife to Europe where they spent 6 weeks visiting 9 countries and also many trips in the US. He also loved to take family trips with his children while they were growing up, dancing, plays, playing card games, fishing, the beach, milkshakes and ice cream. When his grandchildren turned 9-10 he and his wife would take them on a special trip just for them. He loved to spend time with his family & friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Ron is survived by his loving & devoted family; Wife of 52 yrs.: Kathy Kelly of FL. & IL. 2 Sons: Steven Kelly of Tampico, IL. Mark (Joan) Kelly of Beavercreek, OH. Daughter: Karla Smith of Leroy, IL. Brother: Donald (Jolene) Kelly of Tampico, IL. 2 Nephews: Michael (Jennifer) Kelly of Tampico, IL. Matthew (Cory) Kelly of Prophetstown, IL. 7 Grandchildren: Patrick, Emily, Margaret, Kelly, Katelyn, Ronald John "RJ" and Tyler In lieu of flowers the family request's donation's in Mr. Kelly's name to; Tampico Ambulance, Amish Ambulance or either church in Florida or Illinois. Florida services Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday, February 9, 2018 at Kersey Funeral Home, 108 E. Lake Stella Dr., Auburndale, FL. 33823. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Illinois services Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the First Lutheran Church, 300 West 3rd St., Prophetstown. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM at the church, Lunch will follow the services.
