Obituary of Alyce Davis

AUBURNDALE - Mrs. Alyce Lou Davis, 75, of Auburndale passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2010 after a long battle with cancer. The Lord called her and she passed peacefully at home with her sister-in-law, Anna Passmore and friend and Caregiver, Donna Tannehill by her side. She was born August 8, 1934 in Brocton, Illinois to James William and Maxine (Adkins) Gillis, she was the eldest of seven children. Alyce's professional career span- ned five decades. She was bookkeeper for Adams Citrus Packing Company in Auburndale beginning in the 1970's. She furthered her career with Scotty's home improvement corporate offices in Auburndale until they ceased operations. She enjoyed her chosen profession and continued to work until the first of the year for her family at Gunning, Culp, Angus & Passmore Accounting & Tax Professions in Winter Haven. She was a member of The Women of the Moose chapter 1152 in Winter Haven. She was active in the A Touch of Class Social Club. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, most sports and was a long time League Bowler competing in many local and state tournaments. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband - Robert Davis in 1997 and son - Mike Herrin in 2009. Alyce is survived by her loving family; 1 son, John C. Gooch, USN retired and wife Rebecca of Pensacola, FL; 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 22nd at the Auburndale Memorial Park, 1889 W. Derby Ave., Auburndale. Following services friends and family may gather at her home. Arrangements by: Kersey Funeral Home, Auburndale.
