Obituary of Lessie Pearl Shirey

Mrs. Lessie Pearl Shirey, age 93, a resident of Winter Haven, Florida passed away Monday, May 1, 2023 at Good Shepherd Hospice Forsythe House in Auburndale surrounded by her family. Mrs. Shirey was born July 4, 1929 in Wheeler County, Georgia to Dan and Pauline (Roundtree) Williams. Lessie and her husband were residents of Polk County since the 1950’s coming from Dublin, Georgia. She retired after 30 years as a Forklift Driver for Kraft Foods and also worked for other citrus manufacturing companies over the years. Lessie had her own produce stand for over 20 years in Auburndale and also had a produce booth at the Auburndale Flea Market & Webster Flea Market. She was a member of Eagle Lake First Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed cooking, going to casinos and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband – Buford Shirey; brother – O.J.; 2 sisters – Esther & Easter and great grandson – Jared. Lessie is survived by her loving family, 2 daughters – Fay Dowd of Winter Haven, Florida and Dovie Dianne Long of Auburndale, Florida; 2 sons – Hilbert (Karen) Shirey of Valdosta, Georgia and Rocky Shirey of Winter Haven, Florida. 10 grandchildren – Pam, Kim, Tangela, Troy, Greg, Hilry, Kyle, Drake, Hailey & Holden; 10 great grandchildren – Matthew, Michael, Marissa, Levi, Kimbra, Paul Jr., Teagan, Dalton, Ashley & Blane; 12 great great grandchildren – Gracyn, Fisher, Brynleigh, Kimbree, Kylinn, Aliyah, Rayleigh, Justin, Kaycen, Karlee, Cooper & Kendall. Funeral services will be held 2pm Friday, May 5^th at Kersey Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Auburndale Memorial Park.
