Obituary of Gladys Opal Chesser
Mrs. Gladys Opal Chesser, age 87 a resident of Auburndale went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale. Mrs. Chesser was born September 12, 1935 in Crenshaw County, Alabama to J C and Ruthie E. (White) Walker. She was an Auburndale resident since the 1950’s coming from Alabama. Gladys retired after 50 years as a Dental Assistant working for Doctor Strickland. She was a past member of the First Baptist Church in Auburndale and a member of Lena Vista Baptist Church in Auburndale. She enjoyed volunteering for the church, working in the church food pantry feeding the hungry everyday but Sunday, doing yardwork, walking 4 miles in the am & 4 miles in the pm and loved to spend time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband – John Franklin Chesser; 2 brothers – Alvin Walker & Leon Walker; daughter in law – Tamara Chesser and sister in law – Joyce Walker. Gladys is survived by her loving & devoted family, son – Rick Chesser of Auburndale, Florida; daughter – Linda (Lewis) McMullen of Branford, Florida; 2 brothers – Billy (Sandra) Walker of Polk City, Florida and Travis Walker of Lakeland, Florida; 3 grandchildren – Adam Zoble of Tampa, Florida, Leah (Shawn) Johnson of Starke, Florida and Holly (Donald) Neeley of Slidell, Louisiana; 4 great grandchildren – Jacob, Madison, Liam and Kinsley; 2 grand dogs – Molly and Kate. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, March 29th at Kersey Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Auburndale Memorial Park.
