William Bamberg

Obituary of William Leroy Bamberg

Pastor William (Billy) Bamberg of Lake Alfred, FL went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 8, 2023. Pastor Billy is survived by his wife Audrey of 37 years, daughter Kenna Skinner (Caleb), son Raleigh Bamberg (Lindsey), grandchildren Troy, Paisley, Aribella, Raleigh, Samara, Cade; and mother Ada Bamberg. Pastor Billy loved God, his family, and the church. If he wasn’t at church or taking care of people, he had a paint brush or a fishing pole in his hand. Pastor Billy was born on November 28, 1965 in Winter Haven, FL to Earl & Ada Bamberg. While attending Auburndale High School, Pastor Billy was involved in FFA and the LEO Club. After graduating high school, he began working Fuqua Mobile Homes. After marrying his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Audrey, he started his painting business and volunteered as a firefighter for the Auburndale Fire Department. It was during this time that he began his ministry at Life and Praise Temple as Youth Pastor in Auburndale, FL where he served for 12 years. Pastor Billy then stepped into full time ministry as the Youth Pastor at Abundant Life Church of God in Lakeland, FL where he served for 8 years. Pastor Billy was then called into Lead Pastoral Ministry and began serving the people of Covenant Christian Church of God in Spring Hill, FL for 5 ½ years. Pastor Billy then returned home to Polk County to serve as the Lead Pastor of The Haven Church of God until he retired in June of 2022. Pastor Billy was also active in his community. Throughout the years, he loved coaching youth sports. He was a coach for Auburndale Youth Baseball & Football, the Lake Gibson Renegades, and Lake Gibson High School JV Football. He also served as the Chaplain for Lake Gibson Football. In addition to pastoring, Pastor Billy served for 20 consecutive years on the following elected state boards in the Church of God: FYLA Board, FL State Youth Board, FL Evangelism Board and the FL State Council. Pastor Billy’s number one pride and joy was his grandchildren. His favorite title in the world to be called was “Papa.” He thoroughly enjoyed supporting them in their sports and extracurricular activities. Pastor Billy was the perfect example of Husband, Father and Friend. He loved deeply, cared compassionately, and gave generously. As Paul said in 2 Timothy 4:7-8: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” Pastor Billy fought the good fight, finished his race, kept his faith and has received his victory. “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” - 1 Corinthians 15:57..A celebration of Pastor Billy’s life will be held 3pm Saturday, March 11th at Heartland Church, 225 Avenue B NW, Winter Haven, with a gathering before from 2-3pm at the church.
