Obituary of Helen Irelan

Irelan, Helen Louise (nee Nixon), of Auburndale, Florida, formerly of Absecon, passed away March 2, 2023 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, Lakeland, Florida.  Born February 23, 1928 at 152 E Adams Avenue, Pleasantville, the daughter of Wallace M and Helen L (Westendorff) Nixon.  She lived in Pleasantville until marrying Alfred on March 12, 1950 and moved to Absecon, until she and her husband moved to Auburndale, Florida in 2009 with her daughter and son-in-law.  She was a member of The Ventnor Roller Skating Club, she was a Absecon Crossing Guard at Dr Ruppert’s corner for many years and was past President of the Absecon Women Republican Club.  She attended Faith Baptist Church in Lakeland, Florida.  She enjoyed watching the Yankees and Phillies with Alfred.  Survived by her daughter Louise K (Leonard Jr) Barrett, grandchildren Catherine Errickson and Leonard 3rd (Angela) Barrett, great grandchildren Thomas, Louis (Catie), Sara (Luis) and Michael Errickson and Meagan, Luke and Lucy Barrett, step-great grandchildren Isabella and Caraline Helfrich.  Also a nephew Kenneth L Irelan and many Nixon nephews and nieces.  Predeceased by her parents, husband of 62 years Alfred and brothers Carlton, James, Charles, Wallace and Walter, sisters Anita Camp, Ruth Ross and Mildred Sutton. Special thanks to the staff at The Manor at Carpenters, especially Jo Lewis, TK and Matt Thompson. Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, services starting at 2:00 PM at Lowenstein-Saraceno Funeral Home, 58 S New York Road, Galloway.  Burial will take place directly after services at the Absecon Methodist Church Cemetery on Church Street.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to CHERA Residents Club (Carpenters Home Estates Residence Club), 1001 Carpenters Way Apt C118, Lakeland, Florida 33809 or the Faith Baptist Church, 8550 State Road 33 North, Lakeland, Florida 33809.
