Obituary of Phyllis "Jeannie" Jean Hancock
Mrs. Phyllis Jean “Jeannie” Hancock, age 92 a resident of Auburndale, Florida went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 13, 2023 at Good Shepherd Hospice surrounded by her family. Mrs. Hancock was born October 31, 1930 in Franklin, Ohio to Alice Bell Scholl. Jeannie was an Auburndale resident since she was 14 years old coming from Franklin, Ohio. She graduated from Auburndale High School 1949 and a member of the First Baptist Church in Auburndale. She retired after 30 years as a Technician for the State of Florida Health Department. Jeannie for many, many years worked as a funeral attendant at Kersey Funeral Home, where she enjoyed talking and helping all who came in the door. She was a member of the Auburndale Sorosis Club, Garden Club and the Auburndale Historic Commission Preservation Board. Jeannie enjoyed yard sales, consignment shopping, collecting dolls, crafting, cooking, baking, arranging flowers and loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her mother; 1st husband – James “Jimmy” Hancock, Jr. and 2nd husband – Gene Berlien. Jeannie is survived by her loving & devoted family, 2 sons – John Hancock and wife Jackie of Winter Haven, Florida and Terry Hancock and wife Brenda of Auburndale, Florida; daughter – Beth Ann Bizier and husband Paul of Franklin, Tennessee; grandson – Chris Hancock of Auburndale, Florida; granddaughter – Cassie Hancock-Ridgely and husband Mike of Lakeland, Florida and 1 great grandson – Chase Ridgely age 11. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, January 18th at Kersey Funeral Home with a gathering of family & friends beginning at 10am at the funeral home. A private graveside will be held
