Obituary of Jerry Dell Russell, Sr.

Mr. Jerry Dell Russell, Sr. age 85 a resident of Auburndale, Florida passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Good Shepherd Hospice surrounded by his family. Mr. Russell was born December 8, 1936 in Miner Hill, Tennessee to Earl Josephus and Myrtle (Bullington) Russell. He was an Auburndale resident for over 75 years coming from Tennessee.  Jerry retired from National Federation of Public & Private Union as a Representative and had also worked in the Citrus Industry. He was a member of Redemption Baptist Church in Winter Haven. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; son – Jerry Dell Russell, Jr.; grandson – Brett Gatlin; brother – Julian and 2 sisters – June & Joyce. Jerry is survived by his loving family, wife of 15 years – Kathleen Russell of Auburndale, Florida; 2 sons – Gary Matthew Russell of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Kip Gatlin and wife Michelle of Auburndale, Florida; daughter – Penny Thomas and husband Wayne of Haleyville, Alabama; 2 brothers – James Russell of North Carolina and Joe Russell of Winter Haven, Florida; sister – Jane Russell of Winter Haven, Florida; 3 grandchildren – Elana, Heather & Reece and 2 great grandchildren – Wyatt & Kynleigh. Visitation will be Monday, October 31^st from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Kersey Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, November 1^st at the funeral home, interment will follow at Auburndale Memorial Park.
