Obituary of Catherine Murray

Mrs. Catherine Murray, age 93 a resident of Auburndale, Florida went home to Heaven on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at her home with family by her side. Mrs. Murray was born June 6, 1929 in Baxley, Georgia to Jack Lee and Alice Inez (Joiner) Williams. She and her late husband were Auburndale residents since 1960 coming from Douglasville, Georgia. Catherine was a Homemaker and attended Cannon Temple of God Church in Auburndale, Legacy Community Church in Auburndale, Lake Ida Assembly of God Church in Lake Alfred and Berea Baptist Church in Auburndale. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, yardwork and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 70 years – Curtis Wilbur Murray; son – Larry Dale Murray; son in law – Otis Shumate; 2 brothers & 1 sister. Catherine is survived by her loving & devoted family, 3 sons – Pete Murray and his wife Beth of Auburndale, FL., Eston Lee Murray and his wife Janet of Auburndale, FL. and Johnnie L. Murray of Lakeland, FL.; 2 daughters – Bobbie Jean Shumate of Auburndale, FL. and Betty L. Deese and her husband Barry of Auburndale, FL.; 3 brothers – Robert Williams and his wife Patsy of Sardis, GA., James Williams and his wife Judy of Sardis, GA. and Quitman Williams and his wife Pam of Sardis, GA.; 3 sisters – Jackie Hadden of Sardis, GA., Betty Jean McComber of Sardis, Ga. and Linda Higgins of Baxley, GA.; 14 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren and 20 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, August 30th at Kersey Funeral Home with visitation before from 10:00 until 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Auburndale Memorial Park.
