Obituary for James (Pug) Edward Watkins

James (Pug) Edward Watkins , 65 , of Auburndale , Florida passed away June 23, 2022 at Lakeland Regional Hospital Lakeland , Florida surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born on November 27, 1956 in Somerville , Tennessee to Eldred Kenneth Watkins and Laura (Allen) Watkins. He was of Pentecostal faith. James obtained a bachelors degree, and he as well as his family were very proud of his accomplishment. He was a steel worker for several years in the construction industry and a truck driver before becoming disabled. James loved all kinds of sports including football ; in which he loved the Tennessee Volunteers and also the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he absolutely loved drag racing without a doubt, and golf. His favorite color seemed to be blue because he wore blue all the time. We do know however, that it was NOT yellow, the family makes jokes about that for certain. Above all else, James loved his wife, family, and his three grand daughters, Ashley, Hailey, and Phoebe.

James is survived by: His wife of many years, Susan Watkins, Polk City, Fl., son Steven Watkins (Ashley), Minneola, Fl., sister Sandy Cole, Lakeland , Fl., 3 grand daughters, Ashley, Hailey, and Phoebe, and all of his wonderful nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: by both parents, sons Joseph and Scott, and brother Ken.

The family will receive friends at Kersey Funeral Home on June 29, 2022 for Visitation from 6:00PM - 8:00PM Funeral services will be at 11:00am on June 30, 2022 at Kersey Funeral Home with Pastor Lauren Mercer officiating. Interment will be at Auburndale Memorial Park in Auburndale , Fl.
