Obituary of Alvin Charles Johnson, Sr.
Mr. Alvin Charles “Charlie” Johnson, Sr. age 75, a resident of Auburndale passed away Friday, June 24, 2022 at Brandywyne Nursing Home surrounded by his family. Mr. Johnson was born January 6, 1947 in Holopaw, Florida to Albert Samuel and Estelle (Gunn) Johnson. He was a lifetime Polk County resident, grew up in Auburndale and attended Auburndale schools. Charlie was a member of Outreach Baptist Church in Lakeland, member of the Sandhill Hunting Club and a retired Aluminum Installer. Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing, yardwork, church, going to the woods with his dogs and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife – Mavis Frances Johnson in 1994; 3 brothers – Richard, Larry & Johnny; 3 sisters – Katie, Nancy & Annie; companion of 25 years – Shirley Wooten and granddaughter – Patricia Johnson. Charlie is survived by his loving family, 1 son – Alvin Charles Johnson, Jr. and husband Rick Acker of New Port Richey, Florida; 3 daughters – Rhonda J. Wellington and husband Michael of Lake Wales, Florida, Regina Wilson and husband Wayne Merritt of Winter Haven, Florida & Lisa Johnson-Cooper and husband David of Winter Haven, Florida; 2 brothers – Henry Johnson and wife Linda of Polk City, Florida & Albert Johnson and wife Debbie of Lakeland, Florida; 7 sisters – Gertrude Tillman and husband Randy of Auburndale, Florida, Margie Taylor of Auburndale, Florida, Lois Marler of Eagle Lake, Florida, Helen Russ of Winter Haven, Florida, Carolyn Bryant and husband Irving of Lakeland, Florida, Janice Thomas of Auburndale, Florida & Barbara Gill and husband Jack of Winter Haven, Florida; 12 grandchildren – Jessica, Cody, Kenneth, Jamie, Jerika, Michael, David, Derek, Kayla, Aubrey, Amber & Travis; 26 great grandchildren – Marshall, Colon, Alexis, PJ, Hunter, Kalynn, Colton, Emma, Allie, Dylan, Devin, Deegen, Tacoma, Kienan, Chance, Samuel, Leo, Lee, Amaris, Shaylin, Chloe, Keira & Jacob. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Friday, July 1st at Kersey Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 9am at the funeral home.
