Obituary of William Robert Kendall

Reverend William Robert Kendall, age 91, a resident of Lake Alfred went home to Heaven on Tuesday, June 22, 2022 at Somers Hospice House in Sebring surrounded by his family. William was born May 12, 1931 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to Robert Garnet and Vera Jean (Kennedy) Kendall. He was a Lake Alfred resident for 2 years coming from New Port Richey. He was an all-star athlete at Bloor Collegiate in Toronto; Graduated in 1954 with a Bachelors in Religion from Bob Jones University; In 1954-1975 along with 6 others started the Campus Crusade for Christ in San Bernardino, California; Graduated in 1978 with a Master’s Degree MDIV from Fuller Seminary; Then went on to earn his Doctorate of Ministry at the Pittsburg Theological Seminary. Reverend Kendall served in the pulpit until he retired in 1996 at the age of 79, serving (West Ellesmere United Church in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada; First Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, Florida; First Presbyterian Church in Arcadia, Florida; Westminster Presbyterian Church in New Port Richey, Florida; First Presbyterian Church in Seminole, Florida; Highland Presbyterian Church in Largo, Florida; Keystone Presbyterian Church in Odessa, Florida and First Presbyterian Church in Brooksville, Florida). He was and enjoyed being a writer, painter, and poet and loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter – Susan Joan Kendall and 2 brothers – Peter & Danny. William is survived by his loving & devoted family, wife of 69 years – Joan Kendall; 3 sons – Robert “Bob” Kendall and his wife Lesley, John “Jake” Kendall and his wife Donna and James “Jim” Kendall and his wife Valerie; 15 grandchildren – Bobby, Mike, Lauren, Isaac, James, Sam, Jen, Josh, Nick, Anthony, Vinnie, Zack, Ben, Kameron & Kalib; 12 great grandchildren – Charlie, Zara, Reya, Mason, Laney Mae, Jayce, Kali, Dawsen, Kaya, Layla, Rylee & Mila. Private celebrations will be held at a later date.
