Obituary of Gary Wayne Pickering

Mr. Gary Wayne Pickering, age 79 a resident of Auburndale passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022 suddenly at Winter Haven Hospital. Mr. Pickering was born May 31, 1942 in Tupper Lake, New York to Herbert and Ora (Drew) Pickering. He was a Polk County resident since 1986 coming from New York. Gary retired from Alderman’s Trucking after 18 years of service as a truck driver and had also worked for the City of Winter Haven in the Cemetery Division. He enjoyed boating, fishing and spending time with family. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter – Tammy Yaist and many brothers & sisters. Gary is survived by his loving family, wife of 35 years – Lorine Pickering of Auburndale; son – Joshua Pickering of Auburndale; 3 stepsons – Joseph Taylor, Christopher Taylor both of Denver, Colorado and Jeffrey (Pam) Taylor of Littleton, Colorado; 4 grandchildren – Matthew, Amber, Nick & Kendra; 8 step grandchildren – Megan, Christopher, Brittany, Madisyn, Morgen, Mackenzy, Malorie & Maya. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, March 29th at Kersey Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Auburndale Memorial Park.
