Obituary of Emily Elizabeth Caraway

Mrs. Emily Elizabeth Caraway, age 85 a resident of Bartow passed away Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Winter Haven Hospital surrounded by family. Mrs. Caraway was born March 11, 1936 in Hopewell, Virginia to Joseph Alfonso and Emily J. (Jolly) Lassiter. Emily was a Polk County resident since the 1950’s coming from Virginia, a homemaker and a member of Grace Baptist Church in Lake Wales. She enjoyed swimming, rock collecting and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband – Raymond Caraway; son – Austin Alan Caraway; daughter – Cynthia Lynn Cope; 3 brothers – Ed, Robert & Marshall and 2 sisters – Peggy & Alice Fay. Mrs. Caraway is survived by her loving family, daughter – Valerie “Kay” DeWitt of Bartow; son – Curtis Lamar Caraway of PA.; brother – James Lassiter of VA.; 6 grandchildren – Ashley Cope, Holly (T.C.) Kelsey, Cheree Knowles, Samuel (Christa) DeWitt, James Caraway & Raymond Caraway; 2 great granddaughters – Brooke & Arabella. Graveside service will be 2:00 pm Friday, March 4th at Auburndale Memorial Park.
