Obituary of Ronald Houston Key

Mr. Ronald Houston Key, age 86 a resident of Auburndale passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. Mr. Key was born November 29, 1935 in Athens, Alabama to William Howard and Olivia May (Glass) Key. He was an Auburndale resident since the 1950’s coming from Alabama. Ronald retired after 47 years as a Truck Driver working for many different companies. He was a member of Berea Baptist Church in Auburndale. He enjoyed fishing, grilling and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 68 years – Betty Dean Johnson Key (October 2021); grandson – Victor Fontana and sister – Shirley Ann. Ronald is survived by his loving family, 2 sons – Anthony Key of Auburndale and Dwight Key of Lake Wales; 3 daughters – Laveda (Dennis) Verrelli of Polk City, Rita Key of Auburndale and Tina Gossage of Englewood; brother – James (Vona) Morris of Auburndale; 12 grandchildren – Jeff, Amy, Donny, Brett, Heather, Aaron, Emily, Rhonda, Bucky, Rebecca, Chris and Heather; 22 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Friday, February 4th at Kersey Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Auburndale Memorial Park.
