Obituary of Linda Rae Hutto Christian

Mrs. Linda Rae Hutto Christian, age 78, passed away Sunday, January 23rd at her home at Lake Gibson Village surrounded by family.  Mrs. Christian was born July 13, 1943 in Bushnell, Florida to Chester and Johnnie Fay (Gideons) Hutto.  She lived in Webster and Linden, Florida before moving to Lakeland in her early teens.  She is a graduate of Lakeland Senior High School, class of 1961.  Linda served as a Brownie troop leader and a multitude of other volunteer positions during her daughter’s childhoods, supporting their academic and athletic pursuits.  She was a Realtor with Mary Myers Realty, helped her husband at Christian Pharmacy and was co-owner of My Sister’s Closet in Auburndale.  Linda served as a volunteer for organizations including the Sorosis Club of Auburndale, Auburndale Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Auburndale Redevelopment Association, the board of the Ariana Harbor Homeowner’s Association and First United Methodist Church where she helped with the youth group, social activities, Primetimers, served as a Sunday greeter and on the Church Council. Linda enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family and friends from her church, LHS Class of 1961, Ariana Harbor and Lake Gibson Village.  If dressing up in a costume or seasonal attire was involved, she was even happier. Linda is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Jay L. Mullinax and second husband Cecil B. Christian. She is survived by her loving family: Daughters Jayna Hamel (Bernie) of Sarasota; Judith Riley of Auburndale; Jolisa Koscheski (Maj. Gen. Michael) of Sumter, SC. Stepsons Cedric Christian (Julie) of Gainesville, FL; Charles Christian (Becky) of Jacksonville, IL. Stepdaughter Lauri Linares of Riverview, FL and predeceased by Chyrese Christian of Winter Haven, FL. Twelve Grandchildren:  Stephany Sheekey, Jay Sheekey, Caroline Koscheski; Chloe Preg (Eric); Caelan Christian; Sarah, Adam and Tyler Christian; Elena Allo (John Paul); Manny (Michaela) Linares; Jake Gilileo and Christina Gilileo. Five great grandchildren and one on the way. In lieu of flowers the family request’s donation’s in Mrs. Christian’s name to either; First United Methodist Church (Youth Programs) OR Cornerstone Hospice. Funeral service will be held 6:00 pm Thursday, January 27th with visitation beginning at 5:00 pm both at the First United Methodist Church, 316 Lake Ariana Blvd. Auburndale.
